One of the best ways to learn the guitar these days, is with the help of video guitar lessons. As increasing numbers of people are learning the guitar, and they don’t want to pay for expensive private tutors, they are turning to video guitar lessons, as a cheaper, and almost as effective, alternative.

What Guitar Video Lessons Provide

If you can find quality videos, you’ll be able to improve much faster than you would just learning from books. Using books, and other traditional methods of learning, is all very well and good, but you can’t be sure that you are doing things properly. Video guitar lessons let you see how things should be done, the way the professionals play.

Different Kinds of Guitar Video Lessons

Guitar video lessons are available covering an enormous range of guitar playing topics and skill levels. Beginners usually start with basics on scales and chords, learning how the fretboard works, what each string does, and how to hold the guitar and play the notes.

Intermediate players will probably watch videos dedicated to how chords progress and what notes can be integrated into those scales to start playing songs or improvising music on your own. You may even start to learn how to read the notes or tabs along with the videos.

For more advanced guitarists, there are videos that look more in depth at improvisation, and music theory, as well as cover advanced lead techniques, like legato, and tapping.

Getting the Most Out of Video Guitar Lessons

In the end, the right guitar video lessons are going to be extremely effective in providing someone learning guitar with a friendly face and a skilled teacher who can show you how to play a note, chord, or song that might be giving you difficulty. It might not be as nice as having someone who can watch your fingers and provide feedback, but it is much better than going at it alone.

You can watch as many video guitar lessons as you like, but the only way you’ll improve as a player is to practice. This means spending at least 20 minutes a day watching the videos and making sure that you don’t progress to harder content until you have mastered the current video’s lessons. To get the most out of using video guitar lessons, you’ll have to use them the way they’ were intended, and follow exactly what the teacher is showing you. If you follow the instructions carefully, and are prepared to put in the practice time, you’ll find that, thanks to video guitar lessons, you will progress as a guitar player much faster than you would if you were just learning from books, or on your own.
