Thriller (1982) – Track By Track

November 5th, 2009 · No Comments · Jazz, Jazz Cd, Jazz Fusion, Jazz Guitarists, Jazz Improvisations, Jazz Jazz, Jazz Lessons, Jazz Music Cd, Jazz Quintet

“Wanna Be Startin’ Somethin’” – This one is one of four tunes on the album that MJ wrote himself. One of the things that way too many people forget about when speaking of MJ is that he was not only a great singer and dancer, he was also a very creative songwriter.

“Baby Be Mine” – To get an idea of how good this album is consider this: “Baby Be Mine” is one of only two songs that wasn’t a hit single. This is a pretty catchy song to be one of just two tunes not released as a single.

“The Girl Is Mine” – The lyrics are cheesy as hell but I think that’s part of the song’s charm. I’ve really started to enjoy this song a lot lately. The interaction between Michael & Beatles legend Sir Paul McCartney darn sweet. This is another one of the Jackson penned songs.

“Thriller” – Too many people think just about the groundbreaking music video and forget about the song itself. It’s a great song and Jackson’s performance is brilliant. Who else could have made this song work?

“Beat It” – Eddie Van Halen features on this “rock” song. Jackson doesn’t get enough credit for stuff like this. MJ wrote “Beat It.”

“Billie Jean” – The perfect example of a Michael Jackson track. If you are ever questioning MJ’s songwriting ability, remember that he wrote this song.

“Human Nature” – This is one of the tracks I enjoy most these days because it hasn’t been played to death like a lot of the others on the album. It’s a really pretty tune.

“P.Y.T. (Pretty Young Thing)” – I’m not sure any song makes me want to dance more than “PYT.” Much like “Human Nature,” this is one of my favorites partly because it hasn’t been overplayed.

“The Lady In My Life” – The least good track on the album? Yeah I think so. Still pretty darn great? Definitely.

Does reading about this great album make you want to learn how to sing like Michael Jackson? Well, you probably won’t ever be able to sound quite like Michael but you can definitely improve your singing abilities with Singorama vocal lessons which can be tried for 60 days with no risk.
